June 2021 Message

June 2021 Message

June is here! As we bring the 2020/2021 school year to a close, I want to thank all of our families for their support, understanding, responsiveness, and positive energy as we lived a new reality in our YCS schools. We are truly blessed to have such a strong learning community and connection with our families.

I would also like to thank you for your ongoing feedback through our ThoughtExchange platform. This was a new way for us to seek input from parents to help inform our decision making and to better understand how we can strengthen our system. One of our goals this year was to increase communication, both in celebrating and sharing the experiences of YCS schools, as well as gaining insight from our key partners in learning; our parents. We will continue to ask for feedback through a monthly question next year.

YCS has also spent the last few months working towards developing a new strategic plan for 2021-2024. We have sought input from all of our stakeholders to understand the key attributes we want to develop in our students as graduates of YCS. We are proud of our three key priorities in developing capable people. Our schools will now develop Observable Impact Plans to determine evidence of learning for these priorities. I feel very honoured to lead a district that understands that inspiring thinking, cultivating well-being, and building relationships are the cornerstones of what we want for our students.

In closing, while reflecting on this last year, albeit not always what we love and expect from our days at school, I believe it has been a wonderful and successful year of learning and growing. We are so amazed at how  resilient and flexible our students have been, and we are so proud of them.

I wish you all a wonderful summer and God’s Blessings for a safe break!
